Quote of the Week: "You will never feel better about yourself by making others look worse."
- Deepak Chopra
National FFA Week is February 16-23, 2013. From the FFA website, "The National FFA Organization (formerly Future Farmers of America) envisions a future in which all agricultural education students will discover their passion in life and build on that insight to chart the course for their educations, career and personal future...FFA Week gives members a chance to educate the public about agriculture. During the week, chapters host teacher appreciation breakfasts, conduct "Ag Olympics" competitions, speak to the public about agriculture, volunteer for community service projects and more."
"The week of George Washington’s birthday was designated as National FFA Week in 1947 at a National FFA Board of Directors meeting. FFA Week always runs from Saturday to Saturday, and encompasses February 22, Washington’s birthday."
We are proud of the contributions made and leadership skills developed by our FFA organization at Hilsman.
We've Put on our Traveling Shoes...Last week Dr. Blankenship, Mr. Hussain, Mr. Mosley, and two of Hilsman's student teachers traveled to the National Professional Development Schools Conference with our UGA professors-in-residence to present information regarding visits that our teachers are making to each others' classrooms. These visits are designed to give teachers the opportunity to learn from their colleagues and gain insight into their own professional practice. Here is a picture of our group after we had shared a meal with the rest of the CCSD-UGA group:
