Congratulations to several of our 7th graders for winning First Place in the Ripple Effect Film Festival Competition!

To our Connections team and our whole faculty for helping this to be one of the most memorable weeks of the school year for our students. We had great Field Days, a faculty vs. Student basketball game, and a wonderful 8th grade Semi-Formal Dance! Here are a few pics from this week. Monday is an A day.

Congratulations!

SET received notification this week that they have once again been named Junior Team of the Year for the state of Georgia, and are a finalist in the competition for National Junior Team of the Year! We are so proud of these students and their sponsor, Audrey Hughes, for all the work they do to lead our recycling and conservation efforts at Hilsman!

Congratulations to Mr. Randall Watkins, who was named Teacher of the Year  and Ms. Jimika Torres, who was named Paraprofessional of the Year this week by the Hilsman faculty. These two will represent Hilsman in the District-wide competitions. (Photo courtesy of Ms. Hayes)

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week

This week, May 4-8, 2015, is National Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. Hilsman has an amazing faculty. Please encourage your student to let his/her teachers know how much they are appreciated this week!

SLO Assessments This Week

Students will take SLO (Student Learning Objective) assessments in some of their connections classes this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. These assessments provide student growth percentiles for the teacher of the course, as well as provide information about what each student has learned over the year.

8th Graders to DC This Week

On Wednesday evening a group of 70 students and teachers will head to Washington, DC for three days to visit sites and learn more about our government. We look forward to a safe and fun trip, and hope that this can be an annual tradition for our 8th graders!
