National School Counseling Week, February 1-5

Quote of the Week: "Your greatness is measured by your kindness." - William Boetcker

Monday is an A day.

National Counseling Week February 1-5

This week is National School Counseling Week, which is designed to "focus public attention on the unique contribution of professional school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by ASCA, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career." (www.schoolcounselor.org)
I know each of you will join me in honoring our school counselors this week and letting them know how much we appreciate the work they do for our school!

FFE Award Nomination Window Open

Award nominations for the Foundation for Excellence in Public Education in Clarke County, Georgia opened on Monday, January 4th. The mission of the FFE is to encourage, recognize, and reward excellence in the Clarke County School District, and one of the primary ways this is accomplished is through monetary awards presented to deserving CCSD faculty, staff, and administrators.

Parents, colleagues, students, and community members are encouraged to nominate stellar educators by going to the FFE website at www.athensffe.org and downloading appropriate application packets for the annual and even numbered year awards. Individuals may be nominated in more than one category if applicable criteria are met.

Please contact executive director C.J. Amason at 706/224-7636 or cj.amason@cru.org with questions or for more information. The nominating period will close on Friday, March 4th.

Athletics

Congratulations to the athletes on our girls and boys basketball teams for their strong playing and great sportsmanship at the middle school basketball championship this week. I was very proud of both teams. Our boys came very close to winning the championship for the second time in a row, but were narrowly defeated in overtime by a strong Clarke Middle team. The future of Eastside roundball is bright with these hardworking, talented young men and women!
